![]() Hope Apple finds a solution for this problem at the earliest. iTunes does not even recognize that I have updated to 9.21 on both my iPhone and iPad and requests to update. This must be a conflict with IOS 9.21 and iTunes 12.3.2.35. I have an 128GB iPhone 6 Plus and 128 GB iPad pro with nearly 100 GB filled in each so backing it up in another computer is a pain. Syncing gets stuck in "determining which apps to sync" followed by " iTunes could not backup the iPhone because the backup session failed." Only thing left to do is to try to backup with my laptop which does not have much hard drive space left. I get the exact same error message " iTunes could not backup the iPhone because the backup session failed" when trying to backup. I tried everything you did leaving me frustrated. ![]() I wasted 6 hours of my life trying to sort this issue. ![]() I am running Windows 10 trying to backup my iPhone 6 Plus and my iPad Pro which have been updated to IOS 9.21 using the latest version of iTunes. Since both myself and my wife are having the identical issue and since iTunes is working on windows 10, I am thinking it must be a compatibility issue between windows 7, iTunes 12.3.2.35 and ios 9.21. We then tried deleting the lockdown folder, restarting both Windows and the iPhone, but still get the same message. We uninstalled iTunes, reinstalled it but got the same error message. I contacted apple support again and spoke to a senior tech. I was going to chalk it up to an error on my Windows 7 machine until tonight, when my wife connected her iPhone to her computer (Windows 7 643bit same version of itunes)) and she got the same error message. I installed itunes on my windows 10 laptop and it syncd and backup my phone perfectly. I contacted apple support and the tech I spoke to suggested using a 2nd computer to test iTunes and my phone. I tried restarting my phone, restarting my computer but nothing would fix it. When I connect my phone to my pc, the sync would start, but would end at step 4 "determining which apps to sync" with the following error message, "iTunes could not backup the iPhone "iPhone" because the backup session failed. I am running iTunes 12.3.2.35 on windows 7 63bit and ios 9.21 on my iPhone6. I am having an issued syncing & backup up my iPhone 6 with iTunes in Windows.
